Abu Dhabi extends its travel ban by another week

While life might slowly be returning to the ‘new normal’ in Dubai, Abu Dhabi has extended its city-wide travel ban for another week.

The travel ban covers movement between Abu Dhabi’s regions (Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafrah) as well as in and out of the emirate. And it covers all Abu Dhabi residents, including UAE nationals.

The move was announced earlier today and runs until Tuesday 16 June. The original travel ban started on June 2.

Abu Dhabi has also been incredibly busy thanks to the National Screening Programme, carrying out 338,000 Covid-19 tests over the past two weeks.

There are special permits available if you must travel. These cover workers in vital sectors, emergency medical cases and all mail and goods.

Movement within each region is allowed in line with National Sterilisation Programme hours.
