Flash Entertainment and Abu Dhabi Grand Prix announced The Weeknd as the headliner for the post Abu Dhabi Grand Prix concert happening on November 23rd.
Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will mark its tenth edition this year
Hosting The Weeknd to perform will be part of the grand celebrations marking the tenth edition of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Over the years, it has established itself as the final race of the season for the FIA Formula One Championship. Both Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg have won the races thrice.
Calvin Harris headlined the Yasalam Concert last year
Last year’s Yaslam concert had prominent artists like P!nk, J Cole, British Band Mumford & Sons and DJ Calvin Harris perform while A-listers like Kanye West, Eminem, Britney Spears, Beyonce and Jay-Z have performed in the past. Rap sensation Kendrick Lamar was supposed to perform at last year’s edition too. However, he withdrew and was replaced by J Cole.
Coachella was taken on a ride of emotions by The Weeknd
Last week, The Weeknd performed at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, where he performed hits like ‘Starboy’, ‘The Hills’ and ‘Can’t Feel My Face’. Crowds in large numbers attended his performance but weren’t aware they were in a deeply emotional performance by the star once he performed songs from his latest album ‘My Dear Melancholy’, which his fans, the ‘XO Crew’ believe the songs are based on his relationship with ex Selena Gomez.
