Ain Dubai came to life this week as its incredible light show was switched on for the first time.
And social media pages went into meltdown, with hundreds of excited videos and pictures posted on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
The stunning Ferris Wheel is the largest of its kind in the world at 210m tall and set to open in the next few months. Located off the JBR beachfront on Bluewaters Island, the wheel offers stunning views out to sea and back across Dubai.
And after the first test run of the new light show, it’s going to be the center of attention when it finally does open.
The Ain Dubai is the world’s tallest observation wheel and can carry up to 1,400 passengers at one time thanks to its 48 capsules. And, fittingly, each journey takes 48 minutes.
Ain means eye in Arabic, making it the Dubai Eye.
There are 2,400km of cables involved in the wheel. Which is enough to stretch from Dubai to Turkey.
Ain Dubai uses 25% more steel than The Eiffel Tower.
Each trip will last 48 minutes.
Oh, and the really brave will be able to climb the central frame and then abseil down from the top when it does open. Eek!
