Al Nasr will be continuing their season with a wealth of confidence, despite Arsenal ending their brief training camp on a high note after winning 3-2 in a friendly versus Al Nasr FC at Al Maktoum Stadium last night.
Arsenal wins 3-2 versus Al Nasr in a friendly
Things got underway at 5:30 pm and Al Nasr FC started off spectacularly as Ronnie Fernández hit the back of the net in the 14th minute. Their momentum continued until the 42nd minute when Carl Jenkinson scored for Arsenal. The match went in hands of the Gunners thereafter, thanks to goals by Alexandre Lacazette in the 51st minute and by Tyreece John-Jules in the 72nd minute. However Al Nasr did claw one back via the penalty spot in the closing minutes of the game.
Al Maktoum Stadium inaugurated
Arsenal’s victory also marks the inauguration of the revamped Al Maktoum Stadium. The stadium was rebuilt to host matches of the AFC Asian Cup last January but didn’t have a formal inauguration ceremony until hosting last night’s friendly. The match was attended by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the man behind setting up Emirates airlines.

Debut for Tyreece John-Jules
Dubai, for sure, will remain one the most memorable cities for Tyreece John-Jules, after scoring his first goal for Arsenal. The 18-year-old footballer was introduced in the second half and scored a goal within five minutes after his arrival. He said, “ I’ve been looking forward to this moment all my life, so I’m just happy that it’s actually come off.”
