All UAE school staff have to pass 2 exams for essential new license

All UAE school staff will need an educational license from next year which will also include passing two exams.

The Educational Professions Licensure initiative was previously only essential for teachers, but it’s now needed for all school employees.

And as part of the new UAE school license, all school staff will have to pass two tests. The first tackle teaching methods and the second will focus on a specialist subject matter.

The news was announced by Rawdha Al Marar, director of the Professional Licensing Department at the Ministry of Education (MoE).

“The initiative has now been extended to all other professional school employees, including principals, vice-principals and managers working across all public and private schools in the UAE,” Al Mrar told Khaleej Times.

The license was brought in three years ago to help develop a ‘knowledge economy and ensure quality education.’

And if they do fail one of the exams, they have two years to re-apply after enrolling in training courses.

Teachers in the UAE must have a minimum qualification of a bachelor’s degree or a 4-year university degree or higher in the required field, according to the MoE.
