The UAE Ministry of Education has announced that all schools, colleges and universities are to take an early spring vacation due to fears over the Coronavirus and close for four weeks. This means that schools, universities and colleges are to close from Sunday, March 8.
The closure is part of “preventive and precautionary measures to ensure the safety of students and is in line with efforts and measures taken at the national level, aimed at reducing the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19),” according to an official statement.
The announcement states that “schools and higher education institutions are to close for four weeks, starting Sunday.” The spring vacation was originally scheduled for March 29 to April 12, but schools will now be off from March 8 to 29.
The schools will be given a deep clean during the four-week break.
Despite the news that UAE schools are to close due to the Coronavirus, the UAE Ministry of Education is keen to keep the disruption to a minimum. They’ll, therefore, be using a “distance learning initiative’ during the last two weeks of the vacation, thus ensuring the continuity of the educational process at home.”
Which, reading between the lines, means plenty of homework for the kids!
