British boxing champ Amir Khan has revealed that he’s aiming to make history and have Dubai’s first-ever title fight against Manny Pacquiao.
Amir Khan has history when it comes to the Middle East having taken on Billy Dib in Saudi Arabia last July.
Amir is looking to make Dubai a second home and is in the process of launching his own series of gyms here and a boxing academy. And he’s also keen to bring the UAE’s first title fight. And he’s aiming big.
In an interview with Arabian Business, he said: “There’s always talk about a fight in Dubai but the only fight, if it was ever going to happen in Dubai, which would be massive, would be a Manny Pacquiao, Amir Khan fight. There’s a lot of Filipinos here and it’s not far from the Philippines, you’ve got a lot of English expats.”
Joshua and Tyson close to fights
Staying in the boxing world, Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury have agreed to a series of fights according to promoter Eddie Hearn.
Talks between the British world heavyweight champions Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury started in May. And according to legendary promoter Eddie Hearn, they’ve agreed to a two-fight deal.
“It’s fair to say [Joshua and Fury] are in agreement regarding the financial terms,” Hearn, who is Joshua’s promoter, told Sky Sports News.
“We’re in a good place. It’s fair to say that, in principle, both guys have agreed to that fight. Two fights.”
A fight between them would be a historic unifying bout. Joshua, 30, holds the WBA, IBF and WBO belts, while 31-year-old Fury is the WBC champion.
