Looks like German automobile giant BMW can’t get enough of taking a dig at Audi in their marketing over the years. The war still continues.
BMW’s latest M4 teaser had a hidden logo
Last week, BMW posted an image of the M4 model in their exclusive ‘Yas Marina Blue’ with a lot of sparks flying in the background. The sparks had rings that looked similar to Audi’s iconic logo and as it caught their attention, they replied to BMW saying “When you see it….”. Then came BMW’s savage reply: “We see it, where we usually do… in the rearview mirror.”
Last time they had a battle featuring Subaru and Saleen
From promoting a rally to being called “kids” by Saleen, their 2015 advertising battle came a long way. It started off with BMW advertising its 35th MOA Rally (Chess Tournament) campaign, to which Audi replied “Chess? No thanks, I’d rather be driving”. This followed a series of comebacks related to each others’ previous car models that reached a point to which Subaru entered the battle, coming in with an ad which read “Well done to Audi and BMW for winning the beauty contest. From the winner of the 2006 International Engine of The Year.” The feud ended with exotic car maker Saleen coming up with an ad, which read “Congratulations to Audi, BMW and that blue car for doing so well. In whatever class it is you kids seem to be trying so hard in. It’s adorable.”
Jaguar has been another common target by BMW
Not only Audi, but the likes of Jaguar and Mercedes Benz weren’t spared by BMW’s marketing team either. To promote Bimmer as the ultimate driving machine’ they released an advert showing a face-off between a ’06 BMW 5 Series and a ’06 Jaguar XJ6, wherein the jaguar on the XJ6’s hood was turned to the opposite way around.
