The list includes American Dreams in China, Wolf Totem, Dragon Blade, Po Feng, Twenties Once Again, The Nightingale, Big Fish & Begonia and Monkey King: Hero Is Back.

Dubai home to 270,000 Chinese expats

With an active community of Chinese expatriates in the country, Hala China is hopeful the film festival will have a large turnout and will attract Chinese filmmakers to shoot in Dubai. Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, chairman of the board of directors at Hala China, says he’s “confident” the event “will appeal to Chinese visitors as well as to Dubai’s resident population.” He said, “It is also a big opportunity to showcase the city’s world-class infrastructure and facilities as the ideal destination for Chinese movie directors and film production houses to base their future projects.”
