Expo 2020 Dubai officially postponed for a year

Confirmed: Expo 2020 Dubai to take place in October 2021

It’s now been confirmed that Expo 2020 Dubai will start on October 1 in 2021 and run until March 31. But, despite the postponement to 2021, the name will remain the same – Expo 2020 Dubai.

The news was initially announced last month, but it’s now been 100% confirmed by the official council.

Dubai Expo 2020 was set to be a huge, billion-dollar event attracting over 20 million visitors from across the world. And it was set to be the biggest in the Arab world.

But the event has been postponed for a year due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Airports, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Group, and Chairman of the Expo 2020 Dubai Higher Committee, said: “We welcome the decision of BIE Member States to support the delay of Expo 2020 Dubai by one year. We are thankful to the Member States for their continued commitment to contributing to a World Expo in Dubai that will play a pivotal role in shaping our post-pandemic world at a time when it will be most needed.”
