Coronavirus vaccine

Coronavirus vaccine could be ready as early as April

Thousands of scientists are working against the clock to create a Coronavirus vaccine, with China claiming theirs could be ready by April.

America, UK and China are all working towards a vaccine which would eventually lift the global lockdown. In total, over 40 different countries and companies are working towards a vaccine.

And China could be winning the race. As they have different vaccine laws, they can give a brand new vaccine to emergency patients if the benefits outweigh the risks.

Zheng Zhongwei, director of the National Health Commission’s Science and Technology Development Centre, said: “According to our estimates, we are hopeful that in April some of the vaccines will enter clinical research or they would be of use in emergency situations.”

The global race for a vaccine

Despite China’s progress, don’t get too excited about a Coronavirus vaccine just yet, however.

Apart from China, vaccines need to be tested for months before they can be given to the public. They are, however, moving at record speeds to get the vaccine tested and ready.

The UK is hopeful it will have a vaccine ready to roll out by the end of the year.

And America has already started testing their first Coronavirus vaccine.
