Keeping fit can be a challenge anyway, but add in Coronavirus measures and it’s doubly tricky – but not for a South African couple who are running a marathon from their Dubai balcony.
With people urged to not to exercise outdoors and with the city undergoing three days of intensive cleaning, a South African couple are taking their fitness needs into their own hands (or feet).
The couple are starting their 26-mile marathon at 6 am on Sunday morning on their balcony. And we’re not talking a huge balcony either, as their’s measures 19m from start to finish.
The couple, Collin and Hilda Allin, think the marathon should take between seven and eight hours. And to make it a real family affair, their 10-year-old daughter will be in charge of drinks, snacks and motivational music.
“This is about giving people something else to think about,” Collin told reporters. “It’s about getting people to connect, as everyone is worried about the impact of coronavirus.”
The couple will live stream their Dubai balcony marathon on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
French man already completed a balcony marathon
The Allins will be in good company when they finish their marathon.
Last week a 32-year-old restaurant worker ran a marathon on his balcony. But at just over 7m, Elisha Nochomovitz’s balcony was three times smaller than the Allins. He still makes it look relatively easy in the video below!
