Marking New Year’s Eve without fireworks would be so un-Dubai. In similar fashion, Cristiano Ronaldo welcomed the new year with his family on a yacht with sprawling views of Burj Al Arab and a dazzling display of fireworks. He took to Instagram to share his new year wishes with his 149 million followers.

Like Ronaldo, many celebrities spent their New Year’s Eve in Dubai. Among the most popular names were boxing champion Amir Khan, who spent the night on The Palm Jumeirah and Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez, welcoming in the new year at Madinat Jumeirah.

Now in its tenth edition, the annual Globe Soccer Awards will take place at Madinat Jumeirah on Thursday, 3rd January and will host a galaxy of superstars from the Football world. The 33-year-old Portugal star leads the line-up along with stars like Antoine Griezmann, Kylian Mbappe and France Manager Didier Deschamps.
