Dirty cars in the UAE face fines of AED3,000

Dirty cars in Abu Dhabi could be fined AED3,000 by the Abu Dhabi Municipality as they clamp down on abandoned cars across the city.

Drivers will be fined up to AED3,000. Plus they’ll have their dirty cars impounded if they leave their cars unwashed in public places for a long time.

Cars will get a three-day notice sticker. If the car isn’t moved or cleaned in that time, the vehicle will be towed away. And the driver will be given a fine of AED1,500.

If the penalty isn’t paid within 30 days, the car will be seized and the fine doubled to AED3,000.

Hundreds of cars have been reported this year across Abu Dhabi. Major hot spots include the Musaffah industrial area, Mafraq, Baniyas and Al Wathba.

The move is to simply make the streets better looking. Which is fair enough. There are a lot of abandoned cars, especially during summer.

But you just know that as soon as you clean your car, there’s going to be a Shamal and ruin all your good work!
