Dubai-based artist Sacha Jafri has officially broken the world record for ‘The Largest Art Canvas’ in the world.
The huge sprawling piece took Jafri seven months to complete using 1,065 paint brushes and a whopping 6,300 litres of paint.
The Guinness World Records-breaking piece titled ‘The Journey of Humanity’ is now going to be sold to raise money for charity.
The team, including Dubai Cares, Atlantis The Palm, the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence and the UAE’s Ministry of Education think the piece may raise $30 million for Dubai Cares, UNICEF, UNESCO and The Global Gift Foundation.
The world record piece will now be broken into 70 different sections, each framed and canvased and ready to be sold at four Dubai auctions across the year.
“It was an honour to receive the Guinness World Records title for my project ‘The Journey of Humanity’. This is just the beginning of the ‘Humanity Inspired’ journey. ‘Humanity Inspired’ and ‘The Journey of Humanity’ is much more than a painting, it is my initiative for true societal change through the hearts, minds and souls of the children of the world – a springboard for a better future for all humanity,” said Sacha Jafri.
