Dubai brunches to close due to new Covid-19 measures

A new circular from Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) means that all brunches need to close. Alongside this, no music can be played in hotel venues.

The measures state that venues should ‘postpone any activity that leads to large gatherings such as weekend “brunches”.’

These measures will be in place from Tuesday February 2 until Sunday February 28 and are part of the new measures brought in recently.

Pubs and bars closed and hotel and mall capacity reduced under new Covid rules

As well as closing brunches across the city, there are now strict limits on hotel and mall capacity while all bars and pubs are to remain closed.

  • 50% reduction in the capacity of indoor seated venues including cinemas, entertainment&sports venues
  • Malls to operate at 70% capacity
  • Hotels to operate at 70% capacity; new bookings should comply
  • The capacity of swimming pools and private beaches in hotels to be limited to 70%
  • Pubs/bars will be closed

The measures were set by Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management and the new Covid rules come into effect from February 2 until February 28.

Alongside the new capacity measures, there will also be tougher fines and penalties for anyone caught breaking the rules.

And the public is encouraged to report any ‘violations by individuals or entities through Dubai Police’s Call Centre 901 or Police Eye service through Dubai Police App.’

The measures have been taken as ‘daily reports have shown a marked increase in the number of violations of precautionary measures.’
