A Dubai company is launching a team of high-tech drones that will plant a million ghaf trees across the UAE.
The company behind the ambitious planting project is CAFU, the Dubai-born car technology and refuelling service. They’ve already completed two rounds of planting involving 10,000 seeds in the desert.
And CAFU has now announced the full cutting-edge drone planting strategy as the company aims to become carbon neutral.
The seed ball mixture includes the right mix of nutrients and seeds and is planted 1cm below the ground. The seed balls are shot into the ground and also geotagged so the team can track the tree’s progress.
‘Today, we have accomplished a major milestone through the drone-tech powered planting, and we are excited to use our rich findings and technology to move to the next stage where we scale this project to explore other native UAE seed types. And the best part is, this is only the beginning’, CAFU’s Sustainability and Community Manager Nabra Al Busaidi said
The ghaf tree is best-known as the UAE’s national tree. It’s very drought-tolerant tree and can thrive even in a harsh desert environment.
And CAFU are now using their drones to help grow and nurture even more ghaf trees across the UAE.
