Dubai expat robbed of AED40,500 after massage parlour scam

A Dubai man was robbed of AED40,500 after he was lured into a fake massage parlour in the Naif area of Dubai.

The 40-year-old Pakistani victim was lured into the massage parlour thanks to WhatsApp images of a Russian woman accompanied by an address.

When he visited the apartment in Naif in Dubai, he was dragged in and robbed. The attack took place in November last year and is currently being heard in the Dubai Court of First Instance.

“There were three men and three women who attacked me,” said the man. “They threatened to beat me and stole my wallet. They scratched my chest when I refused to share my credit card passcode with them.”

The gang then used his credit card and code to withdraw AED40,000 from the victim’s bank account.

Six hour ordeal

In total, the man was held in the apartment for six hours. The gang stole another AED500 from his wallet before he left and reported the event to Dubai Police.

Dubai Public Prosecution has charged the defendant with robbery and for wrongfully locking the victim up in an apartment. The next hearing is scheduled for February 23.
