Dubai Fitness Challenge Dates Postponed

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan’s initiative, Dubai Fitness Challenge (DFC) will take place from 26th October to 24th November.

Month full of fitness carnivals and events

Residents will be spoilt for choice to choose fitness and sports classes, such as yoga, paddleboarding, kick-boxing, drum workout, etc. On weekends, the DFC team hosts carnivals with a packed lineup of fitness classes, celebrity training sessions and numerous community activities. Last year’s fitness carnival hosted boxing superstar Anthony Joshua. What’s more, there will be fitness villages in DIFC, DMCC Park, Kite Beach, Palm Jumeirah and Al Khawaneej in the upcoming edition.

Capable of working out half an hour every day? The challenge requires residents to work out and update their activity on the app. Once the challenge ends, the app presents statistics with comparisons between the user’s results and overall average. Be it walking, running, swimming or any type of activity; the challenge is open to everyone.

786,000 registrations in the inaugural Dubai Fitness

With an overwhelming record of more than 786,000 residents taking up the challenge, the app recorded 2.5 billion moves throughout the month. Statistics show 59% of participants achieved this daily target and 31% of participants took the challenge one notch higher, working out more than an hour. What’s more, residents from other emirates participated in the challenge too, 81% participants were from Dubai and 19% from the rest of the emirates.

One million participants target this Dubai Fitness Challenge

Given the increased accessibility to fitness villages and carnivals, the challenge calls for social communities, academic institutions and the government to achieve the upcoming edition’s target of one million participants. His Excellency, Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of Dubai Tourism encourages residents to take up the challenge and encourage family and friends. He said “With just 30 minutes of sports, exercise or any physical activity daily for 30 days, we have an unprecedented opportunity to give back to our society. We ask that you commit to the challenge, enjoy the action-packed calendar, inspire and encourage your friends and family to get involved – so we can together make Dubai the most active and happiest city in the world.”
