Dubai man arrested after adding fake screams and gunshots to his TikTok video

A Dubai man has been arrested for adding fake gunshot sounds and screams to his viral TikTok video clip.

The 34-year-old man recorded the video in an empty Bur Dubai car park. He then added sound effects to make it look like a crime scene. In total, he added four gunshots and the sound of people running and screaming.

The Bangladeshi waiter posted it to his account which has 11,400 followers. The video quickly picked up over 2,000 views.

Dubai Police spotted the TikTok video and tracked the owner down and arrested him. He was charged with publishing a clip online that afflicts the country’s public order under the UAE Cyber-Crime Law. This prohibits ‘any person from publishing videos or pictures that would pose threats to the security of the state and to its highest interests or violate its public order.’

He admitted that the video was his and he posted it. However, he didn’t give a reason for creating the video and argued that he used “built-in filters to make the modifications to the video.”

His TikTok account has now been blocked and a verdict is expected on April 27.
