Dubai Police add new supercar to their fleet

Another new year, another Dubai Police supercar added to their incredible fleet – it must be a tough life being a Dubai Police driver!

And this time the Dubai Police have gone for outright speed in the shape of the Toyota 2021 GR Supra.

While it might not have the wow factor of other Dubai Police supercars like the AED1.2 million Rolls-Royce Wraith or the cool of an Aston Martin, it’s got plenty of hustle to catch bad guys.

The Supra is capable of hitting 100km in just 4.1 seconds (that’s about as long as it takes to read this sentence), it’s had to be electronically limited to a top speed of 250km/h.

If you’re a petrol head, you’ll be interested to note it has a longitudinally-mounted, in-line turbocharged six-cylinder engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

If you’re not, you’ll just need to know it’s super fast, very noisy and looks like an extra from Fast and Furious. Check out this rather ace video from a few years ago to see some of their finest Dubai Police supercars in action!

Not just for catching baddies

While the cars could be used in high speed chases, they’re more often used as ways for Dubai Police to break down barriers of the metaphorical kind.

“We are constantly looking for ways to connect with the public,” said Brig Mohamed Al Razooqi, general director at the Department of Transport & Rescue at Dubai Police.

“The increase of high-powered supercars to the department’s fleet is due to the positive feedback from the citizens and media.

“We’re not trying to show off with these cars, even though the Supra is quite the head-turner. Rather, we want to show tourists and residents alike how friendly the police are across the city.”
