An Emirati police officer who jumped into action to help a woman in labour deliver her baby, has earned a promotion at Dubai Police.
Woman in labour at DXB Airport Terminal 2
Corporal Hanan Hussain Mohammad, Inspector at the Directorate General of Airport Security, Terminal 2, was the first respondent when an Indian woman went into labour, before her flight; it was too late for her to be rushed to a hospital at the time.
Delivery at airport inspection room
Thanks to a paramedic’s assistance, Corporal Hanan helped deliver the baby in the inspection room of Terminal 2. However, post delivery, both the newborn and his mother were in a critical condition. Corporal Hanan said, “We had no option but to help her deliver at the inspection room and save her life. But things got worse when the baby was delivered. He [the baby] had difficulty breathing and his condition was also critical. That led me to perform CPR. Thanks to the prompt assistance of the paramedics who rushed to the room, we managed to take care of both the baby and his mother.”
Police officer rewarded with promotion
Major General Abdullah Khalifa Al Merri, Commander-In-Chief of Dubai Police, promoted Corporal Hanan to a higher rank, at a special ceremony.
