Dubai to build largest solar power project in the world

Dubai is investing AED86bn over the next five years in renewable energy including building the largest solar power project in the world.

The Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park should come online by 2030. And, in true Dubai style, it will be the largest single-site solar power project in the world. And provide 5,000 megawatts of energy. To put that in context, that’s half the energy New York uses in one day.

It’s all part of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 which aims to provide 75% of Dubai’s power capacity from clean energy in 30 years.

And the size of the park is huge as you can see below!

Etihad Arena nearly finished

We’re not short of amazing venues in the UAE, but the Etihad Arena on Yas Island could be the best yet when it opens in the near future.

The huge structure is being built at Yas Bay, a super project costing around AED4bn). As well as the Etihad Arena, the Waterfront will also two hotels, a beach club, a pier plus cafes and shops.

The state-of-the-art venue can hold between 200 and 18,000 people. And as well as hosting live music and entertainment, it will also be the home of the UFC in the UAE.

Following the success of Fight Island, UFC President Dana White was given a behind-the-scenes tour of the new arena.

Which is very, very cool indeed!
