Stargazers are in for a treat this weekend, with a dazzling meteor shower forecasted to light up the Dubai skies on Sunday night.
It’s gonna be raining fireballs!
Alright, so maybe that’s a slight exaggeration, but according to space geek and NASA meteor expert Bill Cooke, the annual Perseid meteor shower is expected to be quite the show-stopper this year.
He told Space.com, “The moon is very favorable for the Perseids this year, and that’ll make the Perseids probably the best shower of 2018 for people who want to go out and view it. The Perseids are rich in fireballs, so the show should be even better.”
With the moon behaving itself, don’t miss your chance to see what might be the most impressive meteor shower of the year.
Experts are predicting that the number of meteors will peak on the night of August 12th and the morning of August 13th. To see the shower in all its glory, all you need is a little patience and a good viewing spot. The key is to find somewhere free from light pollution.
An ideal location within Dubai is in the Al Qudra desert, and it just so happens that Dubai Astronomy Group will be there on August 12th, hosting a Perseid Meteor Shower party. You can find more details about the event and buy tickets here:
