Dubai’s World Islands To Open First Hotel This December

Portofino Hotel is confirmed to open at The World Islands’ mainland ‘Heart of Europe’ this December, with a climate controlled street and watersports activities.

Best of Italian culture

Holidaymakers will no longer have to plan a vacation all the way to Italy. Portofino Hotel is home to a world of magical experiences inspired by its counterpart in Genoa, with five swimming pools, watersports activities, water ballet shows, theatre, summer playground and a fishing village. They’re conveniently located near two beaches with a sports center, home to activities like snorkeling, scuba diving and diving. To make it even more authentic, the 5-star hotel will be set in European time zone and will accept Euros.

Climate controlled street

No kiddin’ but guests at Portofino Hotel can walk around the first-of-its-kind climate-controlled streets adjusted to conditions similar to Southern Europe. The 1km long street will maintain a temperature of 27 degrees, five kmh winds and 60% humidity. In a first, guests can enjoy rains and snow in Dubai!

Record-breaking construction time

Portofino Hotel boasts Dubai’s record “for the fastest hotel to soft launch less than a year after construction commenced.” Construction started last January, involving a team of 1000+ workers to deliver the project on time. The hotel’s development currently stands at roof level, in line with meeting the December 2018 target.

What’s more, the hotel, part of ‘The Heart of Europe’ project, is under development in line with Dubai’s vision to make the city “a world-class leisure and entertainment destination. Josef Kleindienst, chairman of the Kleindienst Group, said “At Kleindienst, we were inspired by the Dubai leadership’s Vision 2020 to broaden the Emirates’ offering to attract 20 million visitors and make Dubai a world-class leisure and entertainment destination. The Heart of Europe has been carefully designed to serve this vision sustainably and bring the best of Europe to this great city.”
