Emirates launch 10-minute Coronavirus tests for all airline passengers

Always one step ahead, Emirates have announced they’re going to conduct 10-minute Coronavirus tests on passengers before they board their flight.

The first mass-testing happened today when all passengers to Tunisia were tested for Covid-19 before the flight.

The 10-minute Coronavirus blood test was conducted for Emirates by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA). And, amazingly, the results all came back within 10 minutes. All testing took place at the Group Check-in area of Dubai International Airport Terminal 3.

Adel Al Redha, Emirates Chief Operating Officer said: “The testing process has gone smoothly and we would like to take this opportunity to thank the Dubai Health Authority for their initiatives and innovative solutions. This would have not been possible without the support of Dubai Airport and other government authorities. We are working on plans to scale up testing capabilities in the future and extend it to other flights, this will enable us to conduct on-site tests and provide immediate confirmation for Emirates passengers travelling to countries that require COVID-19 test certificates. The health and safety of staff and passengers at the airport remain of paramount importance.”

Other precautions

If you are flying, Emirates have announced more check-in and boarding measures.

There are protective barriers at each check-in desk. And masks, gloves and hand sanitiser is mandatory for all airport employees.

Passengers also need to wear their own masks at the airport and on-board the aircraft. And they must follow social distancing guidelines.

If you are stuck in the UAE, there is some good news. The UAE has announced that all resident and visit visas that expire after March 1 are valid until the end of the year.
