Eight countries part of the Euro Arabian North Pole Expedition 2018 will embark on an adventurous journey to the North Pole this month.
Temperatures will be as low as -40° C
Participants will be touring the North Pole for ten days and will be skiing daily for up to 12 hours daily for a total of 100 kilometers to reach the top of the world. However, reaching the top will be dangerous especially due to the presence of predatory polar bears.
Four Arab countries will be part of the expedition
Eight countries will participate in the journey, from which France, Sweden, Cyprus and Russia are the European countries participating while Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE are the Arab countries taking part. This expedition will witness the first Omani to reach the top of the Geographic North Pole. Omani National Nabil Al Busaidi had once reached the top although it was the magnetic North Pole in 2009.
Elham Al Qasimi was the first Emirati to reach the North Pole
Not only the first Emirati, she was the first Arab female to reach the top of the world during a three week expedition carrying supplies for more than 100 miles in 2010. Two years later, she carried the Olympic torch too.
