Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways announces they’re banning select Apple MacBook Pro laptops in checked-in luggage.

Select MacBook Pro laptops banned

Etihad Airways prohibit old-gen 15-inch Apple MacBook Pro laptops, as its battery unit could overheat and lead to a fire hazard. A lot of airlines implemented this ban of late, like Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways and Cathay Pacific.

MacBook Pro laptops only allowed in cabin luggage

The good news is, passengers are still allowed to carry their MacBook Pro laptops in cabin luggage while flying with Etihad Airways. They must be switched off, however, and cannot be charged during the flight.

“Guests may still carry MacBook Pro laptops on flights, but only in cabin baggage. The laptops subject to the manufacturer’s recall must remain switched off throughout the flight. Charging of the devices will not be permitted in flight.”

Etihad Airways ranks the most punctual airline in the world

Their announcement comes hot on the heels of being ranked the world’s most punctual airline. So, the next time you travel, there are really low chances of receiving a notification your flight is delayed.

They’re also the only Middle Eastern carrier to score above 80% for on-time performance.
