Fans could be allowed in to UFC254 at Fight Island in Abu Dhabi

UFC 254 is set to be one of the biggest sporting events of the year when Russian MMA star and UFC Lightweight champion and Khabib returns to the Octagon after a year off to fight Justin Gaethje on Saturday, October 24.And there are plans for fans to be allowed in for UFC 254 in Abu Dhabi.

Saeed Rashed Al Saeed, the marketing director for the Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT), told Time Out Dubai that they were working on aplan to allow fans to watch the event live.

Like many big sporting events around the world, the UFC has been fought behind closed doors since resuming action earlier this year. But the team in Abu Dhabi are working on plans to let fans in to watch Khabib Nurmagomedov take on Justin Gaethje.

He says: “We are currently studying how to bring fans into UFC 254. Right now we’re going through how to segregate fans from people inside the bubble but still get them inside the space in the safe manner.

“If everything goes to plan we’ll be announcing this soon. It’s not confirmed yet but the plan is in place but it needs to be endorsed. I’m optimistic but health and safety can not be compromised. That is our priority, it will not happen unless it is fool proof.”

Which is a pretty epic piece of news!

Khabib spotted at the mosque

Star man Khabib has been training hard for the big fight, And he’s been photographed praying with Sheikh Saeed at a mosque in the country.

If you don’t know, Skeikh Saeed AKA Uncle Saeed is a very big deal in the UAE. He’s a member of the ruling family and is a four-time Olympian and one of the UAE’s main sporting idols. He also owns racing horses and owns a football team. As well as that, he’s a social media star with nearly 700,000 Instagram followers.

And he posted this very cool image of him with Khabib several days ago.
