First Jewish school to open in Dubai next year

The first Jewish school is set to open in Dubai next year after a series of meeting between Israel’s Ministry of Diaspora Affairs and the Jewish community in Dubai.

The school will be launched through the Diaspora Initiative United organization on behalf of the Ministry of Diaspora Affairs.

There are currently around a thousand members of the Jewish community in the UAE. And it’s expected there may be as many as 200 children in the school once the Jewish school opens in Dubai.

Minister of Diaspora Affairs Omer Yankelevich said that “Jewish education in the Diaspora is at the forefront of our minds. And we make every effort to preserve the Jewish identity and connection to the State of Israel of the Jewish children, for the continuity of the Jewish people in future generations.”

He also added that Jewish education “is as vital to the future of our community as it has been throughout history for Jewish communities around the world.”

It’s also been announced that both Netanyahu and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed have been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

The nomination was made by Lord David Trimble who won the prize himself in 1998 for helping broker peace in Northern Ireland.
