Five amazing facts about Ain Dubai as it opens today

Ain Dubai is finally opening this weekend as the world’s largest and tallest observation wheel with incredible views across the city.

And as you can see from the post below, it can even be seen from space!

The celebrations start at 2 pm at Ain Plaza with DJs, live music and family entertainment.

Ahead of its opening, we’ve got five incredible facts about the superstructure.

A head for heights

Ain Dubai will be 250m tall. Which makes it nearly twice as high as the London Eye!

Ain of Steel

The Blueswater structure has been built with 9,000 tonnes of steel. Which is 25% more than was used to build the Eiffel Tower. In total, there is 2,400km of steel cables in Ain Dubai. Which would stretch from Dubai to Cairo if laid end-to-end.

A good time to fly

Each trip will take 38 minutes. Meaning you have nearly an hour to take in the views across the city!

There are 48 capsules and each capsule can hold 30 people. Which means Ain Dubai can carry up to 1,400 people each rotation.

Book your own cabin

There are several types of cabins. Including the ‘Ain Dubai Lounge Plus Package’ which has its own bar!

Money talks

The whole project cost around US$1.6 billion. Ooft!
