Even post-retirement, Floyd Mayweather is down for a comeback fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov, but what’s stopping the supposedly ‘nine-figure’ deal from happening?
Floyd Mayweather fed up with talks
While talking to TMZ Sports, the retired boxer said he wants the fight to happen his way under boxing rules. He said “They came to me talking about the Khabib fight. Khabib called me out; I didn’t call Khabib out. They said it has to happen in the Octagon and I said, ‘You just tell me where Khabib has made nine figures before in the Octagon. If he hasn’t made nine figures, he’s not the A side. I’m the A side, so if you guys want the fight to happen, you must come my way. My way, my rules.”
Dana White responds to Mayweather vs Khabib fight
UFC President Dana White was blunt in his response to Mayweather’s comment during in an interview with TMZ, saying “The answer is no.” He challenged the boxing legend’s commenting, replying he will have to come to UFC to earn the nine-figure deal. He said “He’s going to have to come here (to the UFC) and get his — whooping. You’re going to make a lot of money Floyd, but it is time to get your — whooped. We did that last time (sent Conor McGregor to boxing), you have to come here this time. We already did it. Now you come here. Why does he want to box? Every time he wants to box. You want to fight? You want to make $150 million? Come over here and get your — whooped!.”
