Fuel Prices Announced For September

Petrol and diesel prices (inclusive of VAT) are announced for the month of September and petrol prices have increased slightly.

Special 95 price increased by two fils

Rates for Special 95 and Super 98 and E-91 increased by two fils each. A litre of Special 95 now costs 2.48 dhs, up from 2.46 dhs last month and a litre of Super 98 now costs 2.59 dhs, up from 2.57 dhs last month. Whereas, diesel price has increased by one fil, meaning one litre of diesel now costs Dhs2.64.

Drivers warned not to ‘fill and run’

Cases have occurred in the past where drivers have left the gas station without paying for fuel. Gas stations across the country have issued notices warning drivers to pay or they will not be allowed to exit the station. Stations will not accept identification cards as a guarantee.

Self-service at petrol pumps in Abu Dhabi

Part of the new ‘Flex Service’ program by ADNOC, car owners have the choice of filling fuel either by themselves or by a petrol pump attendant. at, which costs Dhs10. There’s a catch, however. The premium service is a rewards program, with discounts on petrol pump services such as car wash, coffee and snacks. Rewards have to be redeemed with 30 days.

Warning issued against using smartphones at petrol pumps

Since ADNOC started the self-service program, a trend has started of car passengers documenting the driver refuelling the vehicle and posting it on social media. Sharjah’s Civil Defense issued a warning about the risks associated with using mobile devices at the pump and according to Gulf News, the smartphone’s electromagnetic field can ignite a fire through the volatile fumes of gasoline.
