Holiday season is fast approaching, and what better way to begin than with the four-day weekend that has been announced from Friday, 30th November-Monday 3rd December by the UAE Government this weekend.

Phew, it’s a four-day weekend!

Going by the weekdays, a three-day-weekend declaration was likely, with UAE Martyr’s Day falling on a Friday, followed by the 47th UAE National Day falling on a Sunday. The UAE Government announced the good news via Twitter, declaring a double weekend. The tweet reads “The UAE Cabinet approves the public holiday of the #UAE_National_Day_47 for public and private sectors on the 2nd & 3rd of December. Work will resume on Tuesday. The Cabinet congratulates the people of the UAE on this occasion.”

Martyrs remembered on UAE Commemoration Day

First off, the long weekend begins with observing UAE Commemoration Day, marked as a tribute to Emirati martyrs and their sacrifices. The occasion falls on 30th November, marking President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed’s birthday.
