Thoroughbred racehorse Blue Point scored a rare double at this year’s Royal Ascot, attended by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Two victories for Blue Point at Royal Ascot 2019
Ridden by James Doyle and trained by Charlie Appleby, the five-year-old racehorse first won the title at King’s Stand Stakes and then, won the Diamond Jubilee Stakes, though by a narrow margin.
Blue Point is now the third horse to score a double at the five-day horseracing festival.

HH Sheikh Mohammed attended the Royal Ascot on all five days. He was all smiles when collecting the trophy, from Queen Elizabeth II.
He said, “It was marvellous. Good horses always give you great pleasure.” Check out his post-race victory dance:

Speaking about the thoroughbred’s double win, Appleby said, “It’s sporting of his highness in allowing me to have a crack at running this horse and it’s what racing is all about, seeing these horses and letting them do what they are good at. Words can’t describe what we think about this horse and on the back of Tuesday he showed huge courage.”
