We might like to moan about how expensive it is in the UAE, but we’re not even in the Top 30 most expensive countries in the world according to a new report.
The CEOWORLD Magazine study found Switzerland was the most expensive country to live in the world. Altogether, nine European countries made up the Top 20, with the UAE the 32nd most expensive country in the world.
CEOWORLD used date from the consumer price index, the Numbeo Cost of Living Index as their basis. They then factored in a range of statistics including the costs of living, rent, shopping, eating out and more to work out the figures.
They then used New York as the benchmark with a score of 100. So a country with a score higher than 100 is more expensive than New York, while below signals that it is cheaper. The UAE was given a score of 61.98, making it the 32nd most expensive country to live in.
The UAE doesn’t have to be spend, spend, spend as this video neatly illustrates.
The most expensive Middle East country was Qatar at 31, with Lebanon at 34, Bahrain at 35 and Saudi Arabia at 57.
