Every year, Google shares its results for the most-searched trends, topics and names. This year, people wanted to know about topics ranging from FIFA World Cup to Avengers: Infinity War and the newly imposed tax.

Sports, Bollywood and tax among most searched topics in UAE

Google’s annual ‘Year in Search’ report speaks volumes about what caught the attention among people in the UAE. This year’s most searched topic was the FIFA World Cup, which goes unquestioned, knowing that the UAE has an enormous football fanbase. The second most searched topic was the Indian Premier League, which marked a decade since its inception last March, followed by the late Bollywood actress, Sridevi, who passed away in Dubai last February. Black Panther, Avengers 3 and Race 3 the most searched movies in 2018

It’s been quite the year for Marvel Studios, marking the tenth anniversary of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the release of blockbusters like ‘Black Panther,’ ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Venom’ that stormed the box office. Two of its movies topped the UAE’s search results report in the movies category, followed by ‘Race 3,’ which was shot in Abu Dhabi. Here are the top ten results:

Meghan Markle, Nick Jonas and Logan Paul take top spots on Google’s most searched celebrities

No surprise here. This year’s most looked up celebrity in the UAE is Meghan Markle, thanks to the Royal wedding last May, as well as her style evolution and a baby on the way (and gossip perhaps?). After her is Nick Jonas, who’s fully embraced by Indian fans after his huge Bollywood-style marriage to Priyanka Chopra. Plus Logan Paul was another popular search query, ranking third on the list after his controversial fight versus fellow Youtuber, KSI. The top ten searched celebrities in the UAE are:
