Hazzaa AlMansoori Returns to Earth After a Historic Trip to The ISS

At last, the UAE’s first man in space Hazzaa AlMansoori has returned safely after a landmark trip to the International Space Station.

Hazzaa AlMansoori touches down

The 35-year-old Emirati astronaut landed in Kazakhstan accompanied by US astronaut Nick Hague and Russian cosmonaut Alexey Ovchinin on Thursday 3rd October.

Ahead of his arrival, he shared a touching tribute to the founding father of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He said,

“With fear and pride, I am returning with Zayed’s ambition achieved. We are not done yet, and we will never be. To bring back the golden era of Arab astronauts.”

An eight day voyage to the International Space Station

Al Mansoori embarked on an eight-day journey to the International Space Station, conducting earth observations, interacting with ground stations and sharing information. He also shared photos of what the UAE, Mecca and North Africa look like from space and shared a part of Emirati culture with the crew aboard.

Here’s what Sheikh Mohammed had to say about Hazzaa’s achievement

“Welcome back Hazza Al Mansouri after your journey as the first Arab Astronaut to the International Space Station. We are proud of your achievement and the knowledge and expertise we have gained through your trip. We have broadened the horizons of our future generations in space.”
