HBO launches new animated comedy series The Prince written by one of the Family Guy creators, with Orlando Bloom one of the stars involved.
The UK Royal Family has been at the centre of the headlines for the past few months. First, there was Prince Andrew and his revelations and then came the news Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were essentially leaving the family for good.
As you’d imagine, it’s a pretty ripe area for comedy and satire. So step forward Family Guy writer Gary Janetti. His Instagram account was already a riot of Photoshop’d Royal images, so he took the inevitable next step and started his own animated comedy. And HBO Max were quick to step up and sign the project.
Prince George is the star of the show
New HBO series The Prince will tell the royal comedy from the eyes of six-year-old Prince George, the son of Prince William and Princess Kate.
Each character will use their official royal names, with Orlando Bloom voicing Prince Harry and Condola Rashad as Meghan Markle.
Janetti told the press he was excited to be “bringing another series about a family ruthlessly fighting for the throne.”
As he hints above, this isn’t the first time HBO has signed up to a long-running regal saga rife with politics. Although we don’t imagine there’ll be as many beheadings in The Prince as there were in Game of Thrones…
The release date for the new HBO show The Prince hasn’t been announced yet. But to tide you over, here’s a compilation of our favourite Family Guy clips 🙂
