UFC is returning to Abu Dhabi after five years, and they’re constructing a special octagon, called ‘The Arena’ in Yas Island to host UFC 242.
13,000 plus capacity at The Arena
Abu Dhabi’s Department of Culture and Tourism came up with renderings of what The Arena will look like, once ready.
The Arena boasts a seating capacity over 13,000, a huge arena screen and an octagon in the centre surrounded by lighting. Take a look:

Headline fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Dustin Poirier at UFC 242
Reigning lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is making a return to UFC 242 in Abu Dhabi on 7th September, fighting against Dustin Poirier.
Khabib’s comeback is welcome after serving a nine-month suspension, for his fracas with Conor McGregor and his team at UFC 229 last October.
Dana White has no problems if Conor McGregor shows up
Post-UFC 229, there’s been a lot of trash talk between McGregor and Nurmagomedov. Things got out of hand when McGregor made offensive comments against the Dagestani martial artist’s wife.
UFC President Dana White claims he has no problem if the former UFC superstar attends the Abu Dhabi fight.
White says, “I don’t think that’s gonna be a problem. I honestly believe that in that region, they like Conor McGregor, too. I know that they take things a little serious when stuff is said, but Khabib won the fight. And I think it’s all just trash talk.”
