HH Sheikh Mohammed donates 60 tons of PPE to UK’s NHS

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has donated 60 tons of PPE to the UK’s NHS.

The supplies were bought from China and offered directly to the UK’s National Health Service.

Planes loaded with Personal Protective Equipment including gowns, masks and gloves landed on Thursday afternoon. And more planes are scheduled to arrive in the next few days.

Dubai Media Office Tweeted this clip of the BBC announcing the news.

While Dubai has relaxed some of its Coronavirus restrictions and has disinfected 100% of the city, the UK remains in lockdown. And the UK is on course to have one of the highest death tolls in the world. It currently at 26, 771.

The BBC said the aid was due to the ‘UAE-UK’s deep and long-standing connections.’ And it will help with a shortage of PPE in the UK for frontline workers.

HH Sheikh Mohammed also said he was “determined to do his bit to keep Britain’s health workers safe,” according to the BBC.

What an amazing gesture to the NHS from Sheikh Mohammed!
