HH Sheikh Mohammed receives Covid-19 vaccine

Sheikh Mohammed has just announced that he received the Covid-19 vaccine today as they work to make the vaccine available across the UAE.

HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, posted the vaccine news on Twitter.

And he announced he was proud of the UAE teams who have worked relentlessly to make the vaccine available.

The UAE now plans to make the vaccine available across the country.

The UAE Government also announced it was giving five scientists grants of AED500,000 each to help in their Covid-19 research.

The grants from the Dubai-based Al Jalila Foundation will cover genetics, therapies and diagnosis. In total, 91 scientists from 26 institutions applied for the grant.

As of yesterday, 1,234 cases of Covid-19 were reported. There were also 1,516 recoveries and one death.

Dubai to build world’s largest solar power project

In other big news, Dubai is investing AED86bn over the next five years in renewable energy including building the largest solar power project in the world.

The Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park should come online by 2030. And, in true Dubai style, it will be the largest single-site solar power project in the world. And provide 5,000 megawatts of energy. To put that in context, that’s half the energy New York uses in one day.
