Sheikh Mohammed unveils ‘Golden Card’ permanent residence scheme

Yesterday, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Ruler of Dubai, Prime Minister and Vice President of the UAE, announced the “Golden Card” permanent residency scheme. He said the UAE will grant permanent residence to “investors and exceptional doctors, engineers, scientists and artists.” Researchers, outstanding students and specialized talents will also be eligible.

‘Golden Card’ for those who contribute to UAE’s success story

It is HH Sheikh Mohammed’s belief that, UAE residents are an “indispensable part” of the UAE, and those who contribute to the country’s success story should be rewarded with the ‘Golden Card’. He said, “The permanent residency ‘Golden Card’ will be granted to exceptional talents and everyone who positively contributes to the success story of the UAE. We want them to be permanent partners in our journey. Residents are an indispensable part of our country.”

6,800 people selected for ‘Golden Card’

As of now, a batch of 6,800 candidates from over 70 countries, have been selected by the UAE for the permanent residence scheme. The UAE Government says these candidates will be awarded the ‘Golden Card’  and will enjoy “unprecedented benefits.” It is estimated that these candidates have investments worth a whopping AED 100 billion.
