Some great news, DubaiLAD fans, as the UAE National Day public sector holiday dates have been confirmed and it’s going to be a loooooong weekend!
The UAE celebrates its 50th year on December 2, 2021. And to mark UAE National Day, there will be a public holiday running from Wednesday, December 1 until Friday, December 3.
Which means public sector workers will finish work Tuesday and won’t be back until Sunday. It’s expected that the private sector holidays will be the same, but we’ll confirm that when we get the news.
The long weekend was confirmed today by the Federal Authority For Government Human Resources.

Now this is one coin you don’t want to lose down the back of the sofa as the UAE has revealed an AED500 coin.
The special AED500 coin has been minted to mark the UAE’s Golden Jubilee.
The high-value coin features an image of Qasr Al Watan, the Palace of the Nation, on the front. And the back features the Year of the 50th logo.
The coin “embodies the Ministry of Presidential Affairs’ alignment with the country’s pioneering achievements and initiatives” and its “quest to build a prosperous economy”.
You’ll definitely know if you’ve been given the coin as it weighs a hefty 250g!
But sadly, the coin will not be available for sale at the Central Bank headquarters and its branches.
