Howzat! The UAE Will Host The T20 Cricket World Cup

Great news for the millions of cricket fans in the UAE as it’s been announced the UAE will host the T20 Cricket World Cup later this year.

The original tournament was due to be held in India this October. But the country has seen a surge in Covid-19 cases in recent months. This forced them to suspend the Indian Premier League (IPL) in May.

And while cases are slowly dropping, they’ve decided to move the T20 Cricket World Cup to the UAE.

The tournament is likely to start in mid-October and last for a month. The games will be shared out between Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah and Oman may even get to host some qualifying games.

As a handy bonus, many of the world’s best cricket players will already be in the UAE as the country has agreed to host the remaining IPL games.

The IPL is due to resume on September 19, meaning we’ve got a feast of cricket coming our way this winter!

All the games will be televised but hopefully, the UAE cricket grounds will be able to take fans as the UAE continues to slowly open up its economy.
