Chinese smartphone giant Huawei unveiled the all-new Mate 20 series this week, introducing a set of ground-breaking features.

Wireless charging, how ‘bout dat?

For the first time, smartphone users can charge phones without the need of a charger. The Mate 20 Pro model uses the first-of-its-kind Qi reverse wireless charging technology, wherein it can charge its battery by placing it back to back with another Mate 20 Pro smartphone or an iPhone XS Max. Plus, the smartphone has a 4,200mAh battery, meaning it can charge its battery to up to 70% within just half an hour.

Dining, shopping and vacations made easier with HiVision

Big ups to Huawei’s tech team for coming up with the HiVision technology. Starting with dining, the HiVision feature, present in the camera options, can detect how many calories your meal has. Whereas, shoppers will no longer have to boringly research an item they saw on a poster or social media. With the help of an image or a screenshot, HiVision can identify the item and show its availability in a range of shopping outlets. In fact, Huawei has partnered with 200 online shopping websites, selling more than 1.2 million items. Lastly, holidaymakers will no longer have to research tourist attractions, monuments or paintings. The HiVision feature can detect the tourist attraction (including Burj Al Arab and Dubai Frame!) and present its details and facts.

Speakers no longer present on Mate 20 Pro

Don’t panic, music fans! Instead of placing little holed-speakers on the bottom of the phone, they’ve developed speakers inside its type-c charger input. Even while the charger is plugged in, the device can play music from the sides of the input. The feature is only available in the Mate 20 Pro model.

Curved on all sides

Samsung’s Galaxy Round model stormed the smartphone world in 2013, with the introduction of curved sides. This time, however, Huawei is taking the curve design technology one notch further, by designing all of its sides in a curved shape. Those with butterfingers may have to be extra careful with this one!

More game-changing features by Mate 20 series

Huawei bought a big deal of changes to its latest Mate 20 series. The phones will be available in ‘Emerald Green’ and ‘Twilight (neon blue)’ colours, as well as plain black. Plus, the Mate 20 Pro model will be available in red and black colours from Porsche Design. The latest series of phones are available for pre-orders on its official website, starting from Dhs2,599.
