Shazam! superstar Zachary Levi was in Dubai last weekend, headlining the Middle East Film and Comic Con. During a panel session, he spoke about the reason why a Justice League and Avengers crossover is unlikely and his wish to fight Thor.
Was there a Justice League-Avengers crossover?
Yes, there was!. Back in the early 2000s, Marvel and DC teamed up for a four-issue mini-series crossover that featured iconic superheroes like Superman fight Thor, Captain America take on Batman and a battle among superheroes including Flash, Wonder Woman, Black Panther and Doctor Strange. Prior to that, the comic world witnessed crossovers including Superman and Spider-Man, X-Men and Teen Titans and Batman versus Hulk.
Zachary Levi’s take on why a Justice League-Avengers crossover isn’t on the cards
When asked about a crossover, Zachary Levi’s response was “I don’t think so.” He said, “I feel the only reason why that stuff happened is because It was a tough time in comics, you know. Everyone was trying to make some money because assumingly, it wasn’t exactly their heyday.” However, he claims both the comic book giants are “not worried about that anymore.”
Thor is the first superhero Shazam! would fight if a crossover ever happens
If a crossover was ever announced in the works, Levi joked he’d be down to star in the film and is willing to take on Thor in a fight. He said, ”Marvel is laughing all the way to the bank, and so is DC. Everyone is doing seemingly very well. So I don’t see them being like “Hey! Let’s all lay down our swords. Although I think that would be amazing, I would love to be Shazam and go have a fight with Thor.”
