Public holiday on Sunday, 18th November
Federal authorities, ministries from the public sector and the private sector will enjoy a public holiday on Sunday, 18th November, to mark the occasion of Prophet Muhammed’s birthday (PBUH). UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) officially declared the holiday via Twitter. Working hours resume on Monday,19th November.
Prophet Muhammed’s birthday observed on 20th November
Mawlid, the occasion to mark Prophet Muhammed’s birthday falls on Tuesday, 20th November, however. Traditionally, Mawlid is celebrated with fairs, carnivals, donations charity. Expect festivities in line with this year’s national initiative, Year of Zayed and culinary offerings to mark the special occasion.
Next UAE public holiday at the end of November
Meanwhile, the next public holiday falls on Friday, 30th November to mark UAE Martyr’s Day. The holiday was announced in 2015 by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, remembering the Emirati soldiers who died serving the country. Next in line, is the 47th UAE National Day on 2nd December, an occasion filled with high spirits and pride among the people of the country, celebrating the spirit of the nation.
