Can 2020 get any crazier?
Rapper Kanye West took to Twitter on Independence Day and announced his candidacy for US president!
West has always been a vocal supporter of Donald Trump but after the surprise announcement it looks like the two may be challenging each other in the 2020 US elections.
West took to Twitter proclaiming:
“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future,”
He then went on to say “I am running for president of the United States.”

Social media exploded after the announcement….
Everyone is now wondering whether or not it’s for real with voting taking place on 3rd November. Who knows whether or not West actually filed the necessary paperwork to appear on the ballots?
However, the deadline to add independent candidates to the ballot has not yet passed in some of the states, so it looks like he may still have a chance.
It looks like the already has the support of some. Following the tweet, the 21-time Grammy award winner immediately got an endorsement from Elon Musk who tweeted in reply: “You have my full support!”

It’s not the first time the rapper has raised the idea of running for president but this time it seems like it’s going to happen sooner rather than later.
West is known for making waves. Just last week he was criticized as a result of saying: “I am so proud of my beautiful wife Kim Kardashian West for officially becoming a billionaire.”
Kim recently sold a stake in her beauty brand for $200m.
