The Laughter Factory returns in 2020 for five dates across Dubai to put some much needed comic relief into our lives after a year to truly forget.
The long-running Dubai establishment is one of the must-do events in the city. In fact, it’s been bringing us comic relief since 1997. Which when you think of how much Dubai has grown and evolved, is quite, quite brilliant.
And having been on hold for months due to the pandemic, we’re definitely in need of some laughter!
As usual, they have three comics flying over for your comedy relief. And they’ll be starting their five-date tour of Dubai on July 16 and ending on July 24. And even better, they’re hosting a supper club event featuring table service, drinks, food and laughter.
Meet the comics
There’s a strong Irish feel to the line up as the Laughter Factory returns, with two of the comics calling Ireland home.
First up is Danny O’Brien. Billed as ‘Dublin’s Funniest Comedian,’ he’ll be making his debut in Dubai.
He’ll find a familiar Irish accent in Peter Flanagan, an Irish Times writer and a man known for his darkly comic stories. If ever there was a time for dark comedy, it’s 2020. We’ve had Coronavirus, cannibal rats, a parallel universe where time goes backwards. And we’ve yet to hear a good explanation for Donald Trump.
Last – but by no means least – is Nick Page and his wild and outlandish tall tales.
Who’s going to be brave enough to make some Covid-19 jokes? Too soon?
